What Causes Fluctuating BP?

Hi, My mother is 91 years old and is in fairly good health and condition for her age. Lately, her blood pressure has been fluctuating very high 250/150 to very low 55/35. Her regular doctor seems tired of us bring her in to check this out. I think the doctor is pretty much through with her. I know she is old but is there something we are missing that causes these spikes and drops in blood pressure?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I feel your child is suffering from a vicious circle of cough and cold, intake of insufficient/unsuitable antibiotic, irritation of gastric mucosa & hyperacidity, vomitting, gap in medicines, repeat cough and cold & so on.

In this condition exact cause of her cough/cold needs to be found out(infective/allergic) by investigations including cbc, x ray chest, allergy screening test, culture and sensitivity of sputum/throat swab , as per his doctor's advise.

This should be followed by specific course of medication. Please consult a chest physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
