Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My PSA went from 4.5 to 5.9 in 3 month. My urologist was un concerned and didn t even do an exam. Three months later PSA went down to 3.9. I am 69 years old and get up approximately every three hours to urinate. There is no prostate cancer in my family that I know of. However, my father had an enlarged prostate but no cancer. He did have Turp done twice in his late 70 and 80. What makes PSA go lower? When it dropped from 5.9 to 3.9 I had lost 18lbs. Could that be a factor? Do Saw Palmetto supplements help lower PSA?
any irritation to the area causes some increase AND there is a certain amount of variation if you ran the same tube on the same day. Bicycling, sexual activity, straining to pee, infection, all elevate PSA. White Out changes the number. This is not helpful. Saw Palmetto probably actually helps urine flow and lowers pressure on the bladder; it tends to succeed in clinical tests, but it is not made with high quality controls.
