Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Fluctuations In The Heart Rate And Slight Drooling?
I am 72, female, excellent heart (per angiogram) and good blood pressure, although on a few occasions my heart rate has been 100-110 while sitting just for a couple hours, then comes down to 80s. For two weeks now I have noticed a very slight drool at the right corner of my mouth which causes a little redness. I have not had any memory loss, numbness of limbs, headache, lack of concentration or any other stroke symptom.
It is important to have a check with your doctor, including a neurological examination as well so neurological problems can be ruled out. Sometimes, patients may not be aware of certain neurological symptoms and the visit helps rule them out.
The heart rate needs to be monitored with ECG and in some cases with Holter to determine the reason for increased rate and if treatment is necessary.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
