What Causes Fluid Accumulation In The Ear?

what would cause fluid in my child s ear? He has failed hearing test off and on since birth. We went to the ENT and they said he needed his T &A removed. We did, despite the fact that my son never had symptoms other that the fluid, that would make them remove the T&A. He just fail another hearing test and we are headed back to the ent. I m just wondering what would keep causing the fluid? Thank you! -Angie

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have fluid accumulation in the ear. Need not to worry about it. As sometimes infection spread from upper respiratory tract to ears and cause ear infection or otitis media . I would suggest you to visit Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and start treatment after proper prescription. Get all the lab tests done and examination with otoscope. You should take antibiotic Ciprofloxacin along with Ibuprofen. You should put Otogesic ear drops 2-3 times a day. You should take proper rest. Try to avoid excessive use of mobile and try to avoid pricking it with any sharp object. You should avoid sleeping on this side. You should maintain hygiene of area. Also apply dry warm compresses on external ear .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
