What Causes Fluid Around The Heart?

My sister is 72 and during a chest CT to check the fluid around her heart they discovered a large 15 centimeter mass in her left kidney. obviously her kidney is scheduled to be removed on April 6, but is this definitely cancer? how long may she have had the mass?

Fluid around the heart could be due to inflammation of the pericardial coverings.Mass in left kidney is likely to be malignant.
