Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Fluid Around The Knuckle Of The Index Finger?
I have some kind of fluid around my right index knuckle and up the finger. It was seen in an ex ray but I have no arthritis. The Dr. said he had never seen anything like it. I can t say I have pain however the right hand is getting weak. I have trouble picking up things, turning keys in the door or to start the car and shifting the car. By evening the swelling looks like half of a golf ball over the knuckle. In the ex ray it did show two small white knobs just before the first joint. What could this be? Also my ANA level is elevated.
First of all I would like to know your age in this case. Your symptoms look more of a connective tissue disorder. Repeat the ANA test and also get done other antibody test consulting your endocrinologist. Start on anti-inflammatory drugs till then.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Abhishek Prayag, General & Family Physician
