What Causes Fluid Buildup In Ear?

My 14-year-old son had yet another set of tubes put in his ears today because of fluid build up and one drum being fused to a small inner ear bone. If memory serves me, this is number 6 in one ear and 5 in the other. Do I need to consult another specialist about possible other problems?

Pediatric Surgeon 's  Response
she is suffering from Eustachian tube dysfunction which is causing secretory otitis media(fluid in middle ear).Eustachian tube connects nasopharynx to middle ear and helps in middle ear ventilation.long standing ET obstruction leads to its blockage causing retraction of ear drum and negative pressure in middle ear.this causes fluid build up subsequently. this can be because of any nasopharyngeal mass most likely adenoid hypertrophy in children .kindly get one x ray nasopharynx soft tissue lateral view to find the cause. you can also start with low dose steroids, mucolytics and nasal steroidal sprays.
