What Causes Fluid Drainage At The Site Of Meniscus Tear Repair?

Had meniscus tears repaired 3weeks ago, on 3rd strong antibiotic. Drained once, 2 cultures show nothing but he continues to have fluid drainage from a tiny hole all the time! Orthopedic surgeon is baffled, is it time for a second opinion, my husband is soooo frustrated? Have you heard of this happening? Frustrated wife in Naples Fl. He is 67 and very active, golfs and plays lots of PickleBall and we walk often and bike! This is pure frustrating! T Hanson

Hello,

It could be a postoperative collection.
Consult an orthopedic and get evaluated.
An MRI scan can be considered for better clinical evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
