What Causes Fluid Filled Feeling Between Ear And Throat?

I went to the doctor Friday after having a sore throat for about two weeks. He said it was infected and prescribed Amoxicillin 875 MG tablets. I have been taking two a day for two days. This evening, it feels like extra fluid, maybe saliva, is caught in between my ear and throat. When i massage my jaw line, and just under my ear, it helps, but still feels full of fluid. What could this be, and what should I do?

Hi.
This is very classical finding in cases of edema secondary to internal infection. Because you have internal infection the lyph nodes also get enlarged in the drainage area. Due to edema around them , you get this feeling of fluid and it is indeed a fluid retained.
This will settle with the antibiotics you are taking. You have to take an anti-inflammatory medicines in addition.
Do not fiddle with this edema, it may increase very soon.
