What Causes Fluid Filled Lump Behind Knee In Children?

My five year old suddenly developed what looks to be a bakers cyst on the back of his knee and has a fever. We were out walking in the woods yesterday and he has two bites on the back of his neck. It s Sunday and our doctors office is closed. Can you Assist?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms can be related to Bakers cyst. I recommend to use anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms. I also suggest rest and elevation of the leg. If the symptoms continue, you should see your doctor for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
