What Causes Fluid Retention At The Back Of The Eardrum?

I HAVE BEEN BATTLEING AN EAR INFECTION. I SAW THE EAR NOSE AND THROAT DOCTOR. HE PRESCRIBED A COURSE OF ANTIBIOTS AND A HEARING TEST. I THEN WENT BACK, AND HE SAID THE INFECTION IS GONE, BUT THE FLUID IS STILL THERE. HE HAS SINCE PUT ME ON STEROIDS. IM GETTING A BIT NERVOUS. ISNT THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN REMOVE THE FLUID BEHIND MY EARDRUM?
