What Causes Fluid Retention In Neck While Suffering From Leukemia?

my relative 79 years old was dx with leukemia jan 2013 was treated and is undergoing treatment as his md says to keep a lid on it he has been doing quite well however since 8/2014 he s been having severe pain in the neck ct scan found fluid in neck they are about to remove the fluid from his neck what are the risks benefits. also md says that the leukemia has returned.

I can understand your concern.
You may have recurrence of leukemia with or some other cause are there. You should remove the fluid. Go for fluid cytology to confirm the nature of fluid. Whether it is benignor malignant. Then you should take treatment accordingly.
