What Causes Fluttering Sensation On The Left Side Of The Urethra?
Recently, I have a fluttering, or small painless electrical current sensation on the left side of my urethra, most present when I void, which sometimes feels like I am voiding bubbles. I m 63 years old. Yoga might bring it on too, although only at the warming up stage. I m pretty sure I do not have a UTI. Ideas?
Abnormal sensations such as the electrical current that you are describing can be due to different possible causes, most commonly it is due to abnormal function of the nerves in the area.
This is called neuropathy. It can be temporary or permanent. Some of the causes of neuropathy include:
(1) Trauma to the nerves.
(2) Diabetes.
(3) Abnormal liver or kidney function.
(4) The side effect of a medication.
(5) Low levels of vitamin B12 or folate.
(6) Thyroid disease.
(7) Abnormal levels of vitamin B6.
(8) Abnormal electrolyte levels.
If it continues, you would need to be assessed by your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James,
