What Causes Fluttering Sensation Under The Rib Cage?

For about a week now, I ve had sort of a fluttering/gurgling on my left side, a fist width below the bottom of my rib cage. It s not a pain, but more of an annoying feeling almost as if something is moving around in there. Somebody at work said gas, but I m not passing much of that.
