What Causes Foot Swelling After Injury?

last night i jumped the fence i was drunk but a stick has stabbed my leg and i dont know why but my toes are swollen and my foot is in extreme pain i cant put pressure on it nor wiggle my toes with out extreme pain could the stck stabbing my chin do this or is my foot fractored or broken
