Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain bad smell from mouth and nose can be due to a number of reasons like Poor oral hygiene, oral infections, upper respiratory tract infection, sinusitis, post nasal drip, excess intake of high aroma foods like onion and garlic, dry mouth, diabetes, acid reflux etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can do a thorough evaluation and advise investigations as per the suspected cause and treatment of the underlying cause can relieve the symptoms..

As of now you can brush your teeth twice a day..
Gargle with a flavoured mouthwash to mask bad smell..
Chew sugarfree chewing gum flavoured with mint or menthol..
Do steam inhalations with a few drops of Eucalyptus oil in water..
Limit intake of high aroma foods like garlic and onion..

Hope this information helps.

Thanks and regards.

General Surgeon Dr. T Chandrakant's  Response
Hi,

Noted your short history about bad smelling coming out of nose and mouth.
This is called foetor or halitosis.
A proper examination by an ENT Surgeon followed by investigations can find the cause like sinusitis, atrophic rhinitis, gingivitis.
I would advise additional investigations:
CT scan of sinuses.
Throat swab for gram staining, culture and sensitivity.
X-ray chest for any lung pathology.
Avoid the foods that contain garlic, onions and so on.
Once a cause is found then you can go for a specific treatment as per the cause found and get alright.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
