What Causes Foul Smell From Stitches On The Head?

My little boy just had a minor procedure done, but he had to have 14 stitches on top of his head. I have cleaned them daily and added Vaseline as instructed by the dr the first 2 days. Cleaning them tonight, I noticed an odor. It s kinda like a decaying smell...is this normal? Should I be worried?

In mos cases the decaying smell is related to an infection. Thus, I suggest to consult a surgeon for a physical examination of the wound. Meanwhile, I suggest to continue cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide.
