Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband got sick like a cold he would sweat alot had bad headaches fevers coughs sneezing and low appetite. So he was taking medicine steamed baths teas and nothing helped. He is now going for his 3rd week and now he developed a really bad skunk like smell that he developed with his cough and sneeze and he complaints of the bad taste. When he coupghs or sneezes whatever he covers his mouth or nose the really bad smell stays. At the begining he didnt have this odor. We are getting very concerned. What can we do, should we be concerned or do we just wait to see if he gets better before he sees a doctor?
I am so sorry to hear of these symptoms that your husband has. The bad smell is suggestive of pockets of small abscesses in the mouth and respiratory passages. I will suggest that he gets evaluated as the illness has been going on for 3weeks and there are clearly signs of deterioration. His primary care doctor would be able to address this fully through a comprehensive clinical exam and maybe some testing.
I hope this helps. I wish your husband well.
