What Causes Foul Smelling And Yellow Vaginal Discharge While On Mirena IUD?

Hi, I have had Mirena IUD for a year now. I am having a yellow-greenish, foul odor dishcharge for two months now. My OB/GYN first gave me metronidazole but that didnt help. Then he gave me azythromicin but it didnt help either. Now he has given me fluconazole, Im currently on it but still have the discharge. I had my tests done for trichomonas, chlamydia and gonorrhea and they came back negative. Im not sure if the discharge is due to the IUD or what. Its driving me crazy.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If none of the antibiotics giving results, get culture and sensitivity test done of the discharge and get your IUD removed by gynecologist. Also, get USG done to rule out uterine pathology.

Avoid sex till discharge stops. Maintain sanitation of genitals and clean it with lukewarm water, 2 to 3 times a day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
