What Causes Foul Smelling Bloody Spotting?

I had an abortion Jan. 21, 2010. Wednesday February 17th, 2010 my period began. However it is now February 25th and there is still blood-but it's more like spotting and it smells REALLY bad could this be old blood? Why does it smell bad? Should I be alarmed?
