What Causes Foul Smelling Bowel Movement With Mucus In It?

I am a care worker in disability. I have a client with rhetts disorder who is on a diet ordered by her parents which is notably lacking in nutrients and is frequently given laxatives. She consumes 1 litre of decaf coffee and 500mls of lemonade per day. She has just had a medium bowel movement that consisted of at least 85% mucous accompanied by a strong offensive fish like odour. Should this be of concern??

Hi welcome to HCM...

Here she has having 85% mucus in stool according to history which is not normal...
Small amount of mucus can be present ...
But this is in more amount and cause has to be searched ...

Only coffe and lemon beverage can't provide energy ..So fruits and some healthy diet needed for proper digestion...
Fiber food like whole grain , wheat bran , carrot , green leafy veg etc needed in diet ..

This mucus can be from indigestion or it might be bacterial or parasitic enteritis . .
For which stool routine microscopic examination needed .

If egg of ameba present : metronidazole given for five days
If egg of hookworm or round worm ; albendazole 400 mg tablet given ...stat...

If pus cells and bacteria present than antibiotic course given ...
