What Causes Foul Vaginal Odor?

What causes foul vaginal odor, a swollen urethral opening, lack of and then excessive menstruation? Notes to consider: I have been abstinent for over 2 years, am 42 years old with a family history of cancer and haven t been to a gynecologist in close to 3 years. I gave birth to my youngest daughter through cesarian in December 2011 and that was the last time I saw a doctor for myself.

OB and GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hello.
you may be suffering from what is called bacterial vaginosis. It presents with thin homogenous discharge with fiahy odour and can cause urinary tract infection frequently in women. The urethral swelling is probably secondary to urethritis.

You may visit your gynecologist and get a pap smear done and get evaluated for clue cells which are pathognomic of bacterial vaginosis. This can be easily treated with antibiotics like clindamycin pessaries.
you may contact your gynecologist for prescription.
