Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For the past 2 weeks, I noticed a very foul (fish-like) smell coming from my vagina. For the first day or two, there was a slight white milky discharge, but it went away as abruptly as it started. It made me think of yeast infections from years ago. Since then, there is just the odor. I am post-menopausal, 62 years old. I had one sexual encounter with one man approximately 10 days prior to noticing the smell. It is quite offensive. Can it clear up on its own over time? Can I do anything to kill the smell?
It can be due to vaginal fungal infection for which you can take some antibiotic preferably cefadroxyl or moxikind-cv after an expert opinion along with avil or cetrizine for itching. You can take Fole 150 mg or use clingen-forte vaginal pessary to put into the vagina once daily for at-least 5 days. Maintain the hygiene of private part by regular washing or use v-wash vaginal.
