What Causes Fractured Femur In An Infant?

my granddaughter was admitted to the hospital with a high fever. she is 6mos old and the fever was 103. they did a spinal tap that was ok but when they did an exray they found that she has a fracture of her femur in the right leg. what could cause this? They are doing more tests including some type of pancreatic enzyme test. What are they looking for?

Hello,

She is too young to have experienced such femur fracture. In such young babies, there are 2 things coming into my mind:

- abuse
- accidental fall.

I should have a look at the other test reports to see why they are evaluating pancreatic enzymes. You can send them to me.
