What Causes Frequent Abdominal And Back Pain At Night?

My husband is waking up during the night (not a regular basis) with pain in his abdomen and back. He describes it as moving from the front and then side to side. Some instances have gotten so bad that he has actually vomited and that seems to give him some relief. This only happens at night while he is sleeping and no rhyme or reason to the frequency.

@ This is due to duodenal or pancreatic issue which may include
inflammatio , ulcer involving stomach or duodenum , pancreatic duct
calculus or pancreatitis .

@ Need thorough work up with clinical examination , series of test with
ultrasound and if required upper GI endoscopy .
