What Causes Frequent Belching Despite Taking Pantoprazole For Acid Reflux?
i have been taking Pantoprazole for acid reflux, seemed to help , but today, I ate a cookie, and my tummy started to hurt and than I had Salmon , some pasta and veggies, well the burps started and than the food started to come back up and out, now have a burning sensation in the throat is it okay to chew a couple of tums? thank you
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of frequent belching despite taking Pantoprazole for acid reflux which could be due to gastritis and due to gastroesophageal reflux disease. Acid reflux occurs due to loosening of sphincters and passage of more acid in stomach. Need not to worry. Start taking proton pump inhibitors. You should avoid oily and spicy food. Keep at least 2 hours gap between your food and sleeping time. I would advise that you get an upper Gastrointestinal tract endoscopy done to look for the severity of gastritis. You need to reduce the quantity of food taken per meal. While sleeping put two pillows under your head. This all will prevent reflux. You should avoid spicy food and do exercise on daily basis.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
