What Causes Frequent Bowel Movements At Night?

Hello, my father is 79 just started going to the bathroom at night, several times. He wanted me to see if I could find out what the problem could be, before he goes to the Dr. He is in good health except for breathing. He has IBS, was diagnosed pre diabetic about 6 months ago but has changed his diet, he liked sweet things. What other information do you need to determine what he can do besides go to the Dr.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It could be an acute gastroenteritis. Should take:
- tasectan or pepto bismol for diarrhea
- probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora
- antacids to stabilize stomach pH
- plenty of fluids especially plain water with oral rehydration salts
- BRAT diet (banana, rice, apple sauce, toast)

If still no improvement, should consult further with his physician.

Wish fast recovery.
