What Causes Frequent Bowel Movements During The Day?

My mother resides at Bhubaneswar. She is 74 yrs old & a Diabetic. The problem is for the last 20 days or so she is going to toilet to clear bowels 4/5 times in a day. What can be the reason? The Dr at Bhubaneswar has prescribed Rifagut-400mg & Econorm. What can be the reason behind going to toilet irregularly.

Thanks for writing to Health Care magic, I am Dr , Muhammad Ahmad , I have read your question closely, I understand your concern and will be helping you with your health related problem.

Diabetics have more chances to get infection of gut , compared to other healthy people i would suggest you to do following things for your mother.
1) Continue doctor's prescription according to the schedule given by the doctor.
2) Keep a good food hygiene.
3) Keep her sugars in control.
4) Give her good fluid.
5) Give her more fiber.
6) If medicine don't help do visit your doctor again.
7) Give her simple food and avoid coffee caffeine and cold drinks specially fizzy ones.

Hopefully she will get better soon.
