What Causes Frequent Dizziness While Taking Hydrocodone?

I have just recently had approximately 5 episodes of vertigo. Now today I am dizzy/lightheaded all day. I have taken two neckline 25 mg. The dizziness has not lessened. At 7:00 a.m. I took a hydrocodone for hip pain. Could this have had an effect of my dizziness?

Hi,

Hydrocodone is an opioid pain medication. It is a habit forming drug. So this medication should be taken carefully. This drug may cause dizziness, fainting, drowsiness, lightheadedness as a side effects of its own. Driving, operating machinery or performing anything that needs mental alertness shouldn't be done after taking this medication. Standing or sitting up quickly should be prohibited especially in case of older patients. This reduces the risk of dizzy or fainting spells. Avoiding alcohol should be maintained as alcohol may interfere the effect of this drug. This side effects may not require any medical treatment which can go away during the treatment as the body adjusts to the drug. But, if these side effects continue, the prescribing doctor should be informed to stop the drug, the dose will be slowly lowered over time to avoid any side effects.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
