What Causes Frequent Pain In The Lower Abdomen On The Left Side?

hi im having frequent pain in my lower left abdominal and yellowish watery stool, the pain comes and goes but when it starts it hurts a lot like if someone was pinching my side. I went to the ER about two week ago with bloody stool and the same abdominal pain and they said it was a bacterial infection. Should I go get checked out? I should have also started my period two days ago could this be why I haven t gotten it yet?

Hi,

Yellowish watery, bloody stool with excruciating pain suggests severe intestinal infection. Yes, you need stools routine µscopic examination to determine the causative pathogen... then meet a physician/gastroenterologist for cause-specific medicines.

Apart from this, you need to take ample of water (preferably boiled) with ORT (like electoral powder over the counter) to maintain electrolyte balance.

Eat light food easily digestible... like rice or sago pudding (with less or no milk/tea, coffee without or with least of milk & sufficient sugar/coconut water/lemon water or buttermilk with salt & sugar.

Also, keep a watch for signs of dehydration... like sunken eyes, dry mouth & tongue, wrinkles on the skin, dizziness... if you have these you have to reach ER for fluid replacement by IV drip. Please don't worry. proper nutrition, fluid replacement & specific medicines would help you.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
