What Causes Frequent Throat Ulcers?

have reaccuring throat ulcers, usually start with a feeling of getting a cold and sore throat but develop into nasty ulcer in the back of my throat making it hard to eat and swallow,, get them every 6-8 weeks, getting more frequent. Gp has taken some bloods to test.. could this be suttons disease.

Hi,

Noted your history about recurring ulcers at the back of throat getting every 6 - 8 weeks, making eating and swallowing difficult, wants to know whether this is Sutton,s disease. Yes. many such symptoms are included as a group as Sutton's disease. The exact cause is not known but empirical treatment can help a lot. The cause may be multi-fold like colitis, loss of integrity of mucosa, rather weakness, deficiency of many vitamins and minerals, increase with stress and anxiety.

I would advise you the following in such a situation to get the following tests done:
* Stool test for 3 consecutive days and if anything is found to be positive then get treated accordingly
* Blood tests particularly for Vitamins A and D. Get the levels corrected if there is deficiency which is found in most of the patients.
* Try to find out the instigating and enhancing factors, foods, beverages and so on. Avoid these at any cost.
