What Causes Frequent Urge To Urinate In A Kid?

Hi my three year old son is frequently feeling the need to urinate just wondering if this was a urine infection? he also has a red rash on the back of both hands, I am unsure if this is related to washing his hands more often because of using the loo more often.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
Frequent urge to urinate is suggestive of urinary tract infection (UTI).
I suggest you to consult your pediatrician for clinical assessment and routine urine examination.
If pus cells and bacteria are detected in urine, a culture will be required.
Culture will identify and isolate the micro-organism causing the infection.
The red rash on back of hands is unlikely to be due to washing of hands.
It can however, occur due to allergy to the washing soap.
Rash also occurs in viral infections but that is associated with fever, malaise and tiredness.
For the rash also, you need to consult your pediatrician for clinical assessment to find out the cause of rash.

Thanks and take care
