What Causes Frequent Urination And Loss Of Energy In An Elderly Person?

For the past day or so, I have been feeling lethargic, I have been feeling unusually cold, urination has been urgent & somewhat irritating, & I have had minimal energy. I am 72 years old, in great health, take Lipitor, 37.5 mg. I have a slight fever. I am ordinarily a very active, healthy person. I assume I have some kind of infection.

Hello,

The urinary frequency with loss of energy in a person at 72 can be the most likely due to urinary infection through some sort of bacteria via dehydration or urinary retention in form of residual urine via benign prostate hyperplasia case. Kindly get a urine microscopy report with ultrasound of the kidney, ureter, bladder and prostate size with post void residual volume for precise diagnosis and cure in accordance to that only. You can discuss further regarding the same or any other medical related query at any point of time in future through this website dear.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
