What Causes Frequent Urination At Night?

Thank you. My blood test shows EST AVG GLUCOSE is 126, which I thought was borderline. But in my last visit, my exiting papers stated, type 2 diabetes mellitus without complication. I do get up in the middle of the night to pee, nearly every night. I am 64y/o. Do I have diabetes 2?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query with us,
From your description, it looks like you have type 2 diabetes mellitus. You may experience some features like, polyuria (frequent urination), polydypsia (increased water intake) and polyphagaia (increased intake of food).
From your reports since you are in the borderline, I would suggest you to make some necessary lifestyle changes as of now. Need for medication is not recommended provided your levels are maintained within the normal range.
- engage in a minimum of 30mins daily walking
- avoid foods rich in starch like rice, potato, tapioca, pasta.
- restrict your fluid intakes at night
- consume more vegetables and fruits

Hope this helps.
Kindly revert back to us for any further queries.
Thanks
Dr. Remy
