What Causes Frequent Urination At Night?

I have a real bad frequent urination problem , only at night after I lay down , I am 58 yrs old and my prostate is ok and my dr has me on flo max which helps the flow but not the frequency. I have gained 50 lbs and it seems to coincide with the weight gain , I only get 30 min to 1 hour naps in between bath room visits ,,,what to do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response

Frequent urination might be related to urine infection, diabetes, psychogenic polyurea and many other causes. I would advise you for a battery of investigation like urine routine, microscopy and culture, blood sugar, liver function test and kidney function test to establish a diagnosis and subsequently it's treatment.

Meanwhile restrict water intake especially in evening or night.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to ask for follow up question and I will be happy to help you.

Best wishes,
Dr. B R Hudda
