What Causes Frequent Urination Post Removal Of Catheter?

My boyfriend had a burst appendix. Was hospitalized for 9 days. Had catheter. Now 2.5 half weeks later he cannot sleep as he has to get up every 30-40 minutes to urinate few drops. Has urge constantly. Cannot sleep on the side only on his back. He has abdominal pain but no fever. Is this normal after catheter removal? When is it going to stop. He is stubborn, would not go to see a doctor.. Please advise. Thank you.

Hello,

Frequent urination after removal of catheter is probably due to irritated bladder. The problem is likely to resolve within few days. In case the problem continues for longer period of time, then you may need to consult an urologist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
