Hello,
Urinary infection is still a possible cause of the symptoms as long as you have a frequency in urination and any kind of discomfort when urinating so having a
urinalysis is important.
In your case due to the constant pain locally
urethritis might be a very likely cause and this is general is a
sexually transmitted disease, taking the first few ml of urine for examination (not midstream) is more helpful.
Urinalysis can come out normal in urethritis but does not rule it out so other tests are needed as well. To conclude I would say:
- Please have a urinalysis taking few of the first millilitres of the urine to increase the chance of showing abnormalities if present. Urine microscopy would check for trichomonas infection as well (a sexually transmitted infection).
- have swabs for chlamydia and
gonorrhoea to rule them out.
- A urine culture might be needed.
- If any sexually transmitted infection is found in examinations then you and all your partners should take treatment at the same time and avoid intercourse during the time of treatment.
- If you have
redness at the tip locally then candida infection is possible as well but to make sure please see your
doctor help with diagnosis and proper treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
