What Causes Frequent Vomiting Of Brown Fluid Post Intake Of Painkillers?
Hi ive had a terrible tooth ache so i took too many pain killers over Thursday and Friday and ever since i cant keep anything down and ive had pain in my upper stomach also. Ive been throwing up some brown horrible tasting stuff every couple hours and all night. Is this serious?
Hi Thanks for posting your query on HCM. I appreciate your concern for the brown colored vomitus.
Yes, it is a serious condition,
In view of the intake of multiple pain killer tablets for toothache, the brown colored fluids (vomitus) is suggestive of bleeding from the stomach. This bleeding could have occurred because of ingestion of pain killers which are known to cause injury to the lining of the stomach resulting in ulcer formation and hence bleeding.
You need to be examined immediately in ER for proper assessment and urgent care which may involve IV fluids, use of drugs like PPI or H2 receptor blocker to prevent further bleeding.
Hope this answers your query.
