What Causes Frontal Gyrus Encephalomalacia?

Impression: Right superior frontal gyrus Encephalomalacia in addition to a small T2 Hyperintense focus in the Posterior right frontal lobe that is nonspecific but most compatible with a nonacute microvascular event....
my question: Could this have been caused by a knee replacement? I had my knee surgeries in 2009 and 2011.
Thank you.
