Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a feeling of fullness in my right ear 3 weeks back and visited an ENT surgeon. He told me that a there is a tick in my deep ear canal and prescribed dextrose in glycerin ear drops for 5 days and to return in another week.on the next visit the dr syringed my ear.Now i can see some milky white thick powdery stuff in my ear attached to the ear canal(not falling out,but i poked in ear using a hair pin and saw the powdery stuff clearly in the hair pin).some itching is there but no pain and also no ear wax. Please advice.
The symptoms seem to be related to a fungal infection. I recommend using an over the counter ear drop such as a mild steroid ear drop. A few drops placed in the ear will help to decrease the amount of itching. Another helpful treatment is the use of 70% alcohol (rubbing alcohol) as an ear drop. If the symptoms continue, you should see an ENT specialist for further evaluation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
