What Causes Fullness In Lower Abdomen With The History Of Total Hysterectomy?

when I am sleeping I wake up feeling fullness in my lower abdominal area which alerts me to urinate but I haven t been feeling the sensation to urinate from my urethra which I normally would and also have a horrific hot flash directly after. I have had a total hysterectomy 4 1/2 years ago and my Gynacologist said I should be past the hot flashes? Nervous

Hi,

Since you have not mentioned your age it is a bit difficult to comment upon but due to the typical history it seems that you are before the menopausal age and removal of uterus and ovaries is causing the hormonal imbalance causing the hot flashes and other symptoms.

I would advise you the following in such a situation:
-Consult your Gynecologist for clinical evaluation, examination and to see for any problem with vagina and urinary bladder, any prolapse or so.
-Also get all the relevant tests of blood, particularly the Hormones. This will help to see whether there is imbalance and proper HRT that is hormonal replacement therapy should help you to overcome the problems of hot flashes.
-Secondly if there is any problem like cystocele or so you will be evaluated by the Urologist and gynecologist and treated as per the cause found.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
