What Causes Gastritis Post An Abdominal Surgery?

Hi doctor, my father has some kind of tumor in his inguinal area that appears and disappears (his GI MD said it s not hernia), is painful. My father also went through the treatment of H.Pylori recently, lost a lot of weight. His small intestine has some damage from it too, in addition to gastritis and stomach ulcer. He didn t have any abdominal surgery recently, except a surgery on his prostate (some kind of procedure that leaves the prostate intact) in 2007. What do you think this tumor like growth can be and what specialist we can talk to? Thank you!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I am sorry for the health problems your father is going through.

He needs consultation with multiple specialists:
- gastroenterologist to evaluate the growth of the tumor and its effects
- urologist for prostate problems (perhaps his prostate has been affecting by this tumor)
- oncologist for further follow up steps of treating the tumor

To evaluate the growth of the tumor, apart clinical symptoms (pain he is feeling), I need to have his lab reports and imagery studies.

All the best.
