What Causes Generalized Edema And Joints Pain After Narcan Overdose?

Six weeks ago a relative was taken to the ER for suspected street drug overdose. She was administered Narcan 4 times. She had not overdosed but had pneumonia causing sepsis. After 9 days in the hospital with many complications and continued issues, now there is no diagnosis for generalized edema, pain in joints and muscles below her neck. Could the Narcan have caused harm or any of these complications??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Narcan is not likely to cause all these symptoms because of a single overdose. I believe it can be related to pneumonia she had. Staphylococcus may have caused there symptoms. She should test ASO antibodies.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
