Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m currently 33 weeks pregnant & all of my lab work from my ob/gyn returned normal. At 29 weeks my ob/gyn disappeared & I was forced to find a new one & new labs were performed & are now saying I tested positive for genital herpes simplex! Is this possible?!?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Genital herpes can be contacted only by skin to skin or sexual contact with an infected person. Please get your test confirmed by a second test. If it is +be you would need it treated... for it may turn risky. In time & adequate therapy can prevent bad effects on the baby.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
