What Causes Gingivitis?

I brush my teeth twice a day, morning and night, yet when I wake up I have a slimy sticky material on my teeth and gum. During my annual check up at the dentis I was told I had gingivitis and I needed to brush better and floss. I do have a habit to forget to floss but I know I brush my teeth thoroughly and for at least two minutes. So what could cause that? And how can I get rid of tot.

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your query Gingivitis is the inflammation of the gums and at times it is mild and involve only the margins of gums near the teeth..

The slimy layer that you have in morning is Plaque and it is removed by proper brushing, but it is possible that if you do not know the correct brushing technique the plaque layer is not removed and slowly its accumulation in certain areas of teeth and gums can cause inflammation due to bacterial infection..

1.As you want to get rid of it you should ask your dentist to demonstrate a correct brushing technique to you and it will definitely help you in cleaning your teeth better..

2.Other thing is that you should get a regular dental checkup done every 6 months and if there are deposits on teeth get them removed..

3.Eat more of raw fruits and vegetables as they have a cleaning action on teeth..

4.Flossing in morning daily and gargles with either mouthwash or even normal water after meals helps in keeping teeth and gums clean..

5.Massage your gums gently with a clean finger as it improves the blood circulation and cell growth of gums and thus helps in better gum health..

Hope this information help to solve your query..

Thanks and regards..
