What Causes Gooey Discharge From The Eye?

my 2 and half month infant has goppy discharge coming from the corner of his right eyes. The amount had increased and when he woke up to eat it was across his eye lash. It is 12am here can wait to see a doctor in the morning or is this something that needs treatment now?

Hi there,

This sounds like a viral infection, and usually will resolve on its own. I think it's quite reasonable to wait until the morning to see a doctor. Your doctor can do a quick eye exam and may prescribe some drops, but most of the time goppy discharge from the eyes will resolve on it's own and is due to a viral infection.

I hope I have answered your questions. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or if you feel I haven't addressed your question adequately.
