What Causes Goose Bumps And Slurring Of Speech Post Blood Patch On Spine?

I am 23 year old female. Symptoms: Nausea off and on for a week. Stuttering: Has been happening for as long as I can remember, 10 months- a year (I thought it was normal until recently.) Losing time, like the other day I turned to do something, and didn t know I had already done it. It Freaked me out! This happens occasionally, I think I have terrible memory but i am not sure if thats part of it. My husband is a witness to it, although he jokes and says he thinks im slow which isn t funny.. (he doesn t take this as serious as I do.) Also patches of random goosebumps. I was changing my newborn and I got them on my right arm, and its literally in patches. Has happened about 3 times in the past 4-5 weeks. On my arms and legs. I had absent seizures as a child and I was told I grew out of them, but now I am thinking they could have come back. I think something made it worse.. I had a c-section in October 30, 2015 and I had a spinal headache due to spinal fluid leaking out so I went back in and got a blood patch done on my spine, which the anesthesiologist couldn t find the original spot so he poked me over and over which I feel caused more issues with my nerves. I think the pressure could have affected my brain, causing the seizures to get worse? so over all symptoms are nausea, patches of goosebumps, stuttering, and memory/ or time loss.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The slurred speech with staggering gait might be of concern with possible changes in neuro chemical transmitters at central nervous system level, part of neurocutaneous disorder affecting skin (as goose bumps) and CNS (as slurred speech and staggering) or else. It is best recommended for primary evaluation with an expert neurologist and get an MRI brain done to reveal the best diagnosis and management guidelines in accordance to that only.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
