60 year old male, takes atorvastatin, allopurinol, alprazolam prn, cialis prn, recently started 5 mg norvasc with great bp s around 120/70 s. Recent flare up of gout and taking Indomethicin, tapering dose. He had rotator cuff surgery approx 7 weeks ago which may attribute to the gout flare. General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The surgery itself is a great precipitating factor for many of the immune mediated disorders one of which is gout.

* There is altered homeostasis of urea clearance from the kidneys via multiple level factors to precipitate gout during this period of early post operative era.

However, currently available reports of blood, urine and others would give me better idea to guide accordingly ahead as per your need.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
