What Causes Grayish Yellow Vaginal Discharge After Having Sex?
Hi, Im 56, promenopause, got a new partner, and started sexual activity. Got spot bleeding after intercourse and it was painful to have sex in the beginning. its better now. I got a pap smear which is normal, and got a transvaginal ultrasound with my dr. its fine. Now for the last 3 weeks have white-gray-yellow heavy discharge, a bit smelly but not much.. no other symptoms..I have a bad smell after intercourse. what can discharge be?
Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
Greyish white Or yellow vaginal discharge which has a foul "fishy" smell is likely due to Bacterial Vaginosis (BV). It is not an STD. The etiology of bacterial vaginosis is an imbalance in the normal vaginal flora Diagnosis of BV is usually obvious by the symptoms and the character of the discharge. A lab test e.g a swab can be taken and examined under the microscope to look for the causative bacteria Treatment is usually with a course of oral Metronidazole for a week.
