What Causes Green And Grainy Sausage-shaped Stools For A 50 Year Old Woman?

I am female, 50, 5 8 , 265#; I eat red meat, chicken, fruit (grapes, cantaloupe, pineapple), yogurt, ice cream, popcorn, pretzels, crackers, cream cheese, bread, cookies, high-end lunch meat, 100% berry juice, Pepsi, peanut-butter, 100% fruit jam or preserves,100% orange juice, eggs, 1% milk, cereal; I take a 100% fruit/veggie-based multi-vitamin, on losartan HCT 40mg and Viibryd 50mg. Non smoker. Non drinker. Lately, my stools have been green and grainy; usually in a sausage shape; sometimes looser than that. Does this color and consistency mean anything? Past Monday, was diarrhea like (very very loose); I stayed home. Nearly every day this week. Thanks - DeAnna **********NEVER MIND. DID NOT KNOW THERE WAS A FEE!!!! ********* VERY UPSET

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it is due to indigestion or gastroenteritis. Generally it will settle by itself even without any definite treatment. If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
